i do a periworkout protein hydrolysate, creatine, beta alanine mixture and don’t really feel i need to worry about post workout nutrition as i’m already loaded?
love the fish oil and vit. d suggestion. would like to know his “other” tips =)
These sound like great tips, but I’m having trouble hearing the audio. In those future posts, if you could, please spell out some of the supplements he’s recommending. Thanks, and thanks for the info and this blog!
Great video Nick!! Nice and simply, no frills attached, top notch advice.
Would BCAA’s make it into your top five??
Thanks, Nick! I enjoyed listening to Dr. Antonio. And then I went to Dr. Mercola’s blog today and read about a study just published that suggests one should not take in sugars or fructose post-workout, because they stunt growth hormone and interfere with insulin sensitivity. So how to reconcile Dr. A’s recommendation to have carbs with protein post-workout with these findings? I assume the maltodextrin in my shake will act similarly to fruit–and what about all the people grabbing “recovery shakes” with fruit at their gym juice bars? Would love your guidance!
Great Post! Confirming a lot of the simple things that work. I think a lot of athletes forget about the simple stuff and don’t focus on it as much as they should.
Your site is a “sure don’t miss” every time you post. So much good information, and guidance. So when you bring someone to my computer screen, I pay attention. I look forward to making my knowledge base as broad and deep as I can to get the best payoff in the gym and on the field to get strong and stay healthy.
Yes, his five tips are going in my gym book. Beta Alanine I never heard of and hadn’t heard/read anything authoritative about the efficacy of creatine.
Thanks Coach
i could not hear properly what #3 supplement was. Beta something??
Could you please tell me what it was?
Great tips. Nothing new or ground-breaking, if you’re a hardcore athlete, you’ve heard these before. You just have to do them and stay consistent. Thanks for the video Nick.
[...] this blog Nick Tumminello interviews Dr. Jose Antonio (3 minute interview) regarding 5 simple supplement tips [...]
Tip #3 is Beta-alanine.
Coach N
The video looks interesting and very helpful. I’ve read some of Dr. Antonio’s write ups and he is such a good man. Thanks for sharing this great video
